I was visiting my parents who live in the MB area, and they took my sister and I to Sam Snead's. From the outside, it doesn't look like much, but inside was clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated. The decor is in honor of the legendary golfer and restaurant namesake, Sam Snead. So if you aren't a golf fan, the decor may not mean much to you. Onto the good stuff, which is... everything - the hostess, the service and staff, and the food. There is an unadvertised special - if you come in and are seated between 4pm and 6pm, there is a "Par 3" menu - 3 courses (Appetizer, Entree, Dessert) for $19.00 - that is a price that is hard to beat for a sit down restaurant. Appetizers were salads or soup - nothing fantastic, but the salads were tasty and fresh, and served with a chilled fork as a nice touch. There was a selection of 5 entrees, but most of my family went with the Center (Baseball) cut Sirloin steak - and it was one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. Even a well done steak was fairly tender and easy to chew. The spicing on it was also good enough to add flavor, but not enough to overpower the steak. Even when the kitchen made a small mistake (My parents wanted to substitute Fries for Mashed Potatoes), our server (a sweet lady named Dar) was able to resolve the issue promptly and professionally. The dessert choices when we went were a chocolate mousse and a Key Lime Pie. And if you've ever watched the show Dexter, it was real Key Lime Pie - pale white instead of mint green filling... If you get in before the 6pm cutoff...I highly recommend giving Sam Snead's a shot. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

This place is one of my local favorites. The decor and service is great. They have a full menu ranging from burgers (which are really good) to steaks and seafood. They also have happy hour specials daily.

Cannot comment on the food. Cannot comment on the drinks. I can comment on the service. I suppose that this place is going for the "highbrow" type. Well, I thought that this place would be nice for my elderly parents and my middle aged husband and me. At the door, we were greeted by a sign that said "proper attire required". Immediately my properly dressed mother felt like she was under dressed. I told her that we were fine. Maybe we weren't. We were seated immediately in a rather cramped section of a very empty restaurant. The waitress asked if we would like any refreshments from the bar. My mother ordered a blush wine, my husband asked what the selections were on tap. The waitress shushed him and said ladies first then looked at me. I then had to repeat the question about what was available on tap as my husband was unable to get a response from the overstuffed waitstaff. We all got our drink orders in, the the uncomfortable silence dawned on us. My husband was clearly uncomfortable. I asked him, would he feel better if we left. My octogenarian father said lets go, we don't need to stand corrected, our money apparently is no good here. We are a family that tips EXTREMELY well for good service. My father often tips for service that you ordinarily wouldn't think of tipping. My husband always tells me to add a little extra over the standard to really take care of the staff. We got up and left. We went to El Cerro Grande across the street in the Kroger Shopping Center where we were greeted with excellent service, a very sweet waitress and excellent food and drink. Poor Sam Snead, this restaurant shouldn't have his name...what a crock.

We had a party of 18 people the night after Thanksgiving. The waitstaff was pleasantly professional yet lighthearted and accommodating to each person in the group. The drinks were very good. We asked that dinner not be rushed and the staff handled it expertly. We used coupons from the Entertainment book and they gave us no hassle about using so many. The waiter took ample time in describing the specials and answered everyone's queries. The spacing between the appetizers and the dinners was perfect. The food was excellent - not a scrap was left on the plates. I had fried green tomatoes with goat cheese for an appetizer and the NY strip for my main course. It was all excellent. A lovely place for dinner as well as being able to see all the golf memorabilia. A nice evening was had by all.

Eh, this place was so so. Nothing bad but then again nothing great. We stopped in one afternoon for lunch. It was nice that they allow you to order from wither the lunch or dinner menu during lunch hours and offer a special. They had prime rib on special and my husband and I both ordered it. The meat was cooked fairly well but it was very fatty. I understand prime rib is a fattier cut of meat but this was beyond normal fat for the cut. The meat was seasoned fairly well and the mashed potatoes that came with it were OK. The place does seem to come off a little more formal than they actually are. The waiters act very prim and proper, which isn't a bad thing it just didn't fit the feel of the place. Overall they were a bit pricey for the meal buy we weren't completely disappointed with our meal. Not the best but by far not the worst.

Good bar food, OK service and nice atmosphere. The garlic-parmesan wings were surprisingly good. I was a little skeptical, since they weren't all saucy and messy. Garlic fans would rejoice, since there were CHUNKS of garlic all over the wings. Garlicky, but the parm presence was there...and delicious. The ribs were tender and coleslaw was good, too. I'm usually not big on ribs, but these were meaty and saucy as hell. My ONLY dislike was the strawberry-lemon mojito, which was way too sour. It must have had 200 ripe lemons in it, for real.

Ordered Amber Jack Skewers and carrot cake for desert. Excellent meal very flavorful, just slightly salty for my tastes. Good ambience and attentive staff. One of the best restaurants in/near Myrtle Beach.

We are always looking for new places in Myrtle Beach, and Sam Sneeds was located on the "quieter" side of town away from the tourists. We figured it would be a decent place to have a non-buffet dinner, and while it was a solid meal it was not quite great. We had reservations for 6:30 on Saturday and this was totally unnecessary as there were plenty of open tables from when we rolled in until we left at around 8:30ish. Now I'm not a golfer so I have no clue who Sam Sneads is, but if you're into that kind of thing the decor and menu titles may give you a hearty chuckle. Everything on the menu has a golf theme on the title, from the "water hazard" seafood to the "front nine" and "back nine" for wines. Our server was a bit out there and didn't quite know the menu too well. I asked her if the Sam Adams seasonal draft was the Summer Ale, but when she consulted her menu she claimed it was just Boston Lager. I didn't care either way, but I could tell just from the look when she brought it over it was the Summer Ale. Another shining point came when we were about 1/3 through eating our entrees when she came over and asked if we had any room for dessert, then proceeded to sell us their cheesecake special. Service aside, the food was ok. There is a free bread service which the waitress described as being some garlic bread and some raisin bread, but our bread basket contained only three loaves of raisin. It was accompanied by a flavorless nearly-liquid butter that didn't do anything for the bread, which was bland itself. The missus' and I split a side Caesar salad ($3- which they offered to split between two dishes for us) which had a nice spicy dressing, but was definitely overused, as the salad was wetter than I like. For dinner I had the special, which was a 7oz ribeye steak and shrimp scampi for $24. The ribeye was cooked a little more medium than medium rare but was a tender cut that was pretty tasty. It was topped with this garlicy/cheese spread which I wasn't as big a fan of. The shrimp were just five little shrimps that were a bit tough. The special came with baby carrots...yeah, just some cooked baby carrots, which were exactly how you would expect cooked baby carrots to be. It also came with two spicy potato cakes which were pretty good, but a bit heavy. The missus went with the Seared Scallops ($17.) The scallops were cooked well and had a good flavor to them. The scallops were served on a bed of Asian noodles and veggies in a slightly spicy sesame sauce, which wasn't anything too special. In the end, we the portions were pretty filling and we had no room left for dessert...not even for the "world famous cheesecake" the waitress had raved about. It was nice to be able to enjoy a nicer sit down dinner away from the tourists, but unfortunately the food just didn't cut it well enough. I wouldn't be against coming back, but it won't be for quite some time, if ever.

I went here with my 18 year-old son and had an excellent dinner. The crab soup was outstanding, and the shrimp & grits entree was even better. Excellent service and a nice atmosphere; we would definitely come back.

Good food. But the service seemed mismanaged. We had trouble ordering drinks and one of our meals was brought out 10 minutes late. The manager tried to help out the overwhelmed server but it was too little too late. We will try this place again.

This place rocked my socks off....if I had been wearing any. Both my fiance and myself are golf fans. We were in Myrtle Beach for a week of vacation, and decided to hit this place up. We are not fans of the touristy restaurants (looking at you Drunken Jacks and your 2.5 hour wait), nor any chain restaurants we can go to back home. Loved the ambiance of the restaurant. We ate and drank at the bar, which is stock full of great beer and good spirits. The wait staff, bartenders, managers....everyone was fantastic and friendly. The food was absolutely incredible....great portions, and they know how to make something as simple as fries and chicken fingers taste amazing. My fiance got a grilled chicken salad that had a nice heaping of perfectly grilled chicken and fresh greens. We look forward to returning during our next Myrtle Beach vacation.

I have been to Sam Snead's 10 times since they opened on 501 and each time the service and food has been excellent. My family have tried most of the items on the menu and have very pleased with all of the items. While I would like to keep this location a secret I want to let everyone visiting Myrtle Beach to keep this restaurant in mine when looking for high quality food and excellent service. Try the pretzel sticks to start and the hamburgers are the best in the area.

We were seated right away, I had made a reservation and showed up a little early but they seated us right away excellent drink menu the wife had a rasp berry cheesecake martini she said it was good, ill have to take her word for it as I'm a beer or bourbon guy. As for the meal it was outstanding I had the shrimp and lobster pasta and the wife had the filet. Everything was cooked as asked. Robin was our server she did a great job everything on time the only reason I didn't give four stars is because it is I but pricey not too bad but a little the decor if you are a golfer is awesome all kind of memorabilia to look at. This is definitely a. Do again

Went here with family for an early dinner. I had been to the other restaurants at this location and hope Sam Snead's stays there for a long time. The decor is beautiful - covered in golf memorabilia and pictures, which are interesting whether or not you are a golfer. The waiter was very nice and attentive, and the menu was a good size and reasonably priced. We ordered appetizers (very delicious and large) as well as burgers and ribs. Everything was very good, though the ribs could stand to be a bit more tender. The manager came by to check on us towards the end which is always nice. The restaurant remained very empty but for a few people at the bar, but like I said it was early in the evening. I recommend this place and hope it succeeds.

We took a chance at trying a new place. We really enjoyed our lunch. The lunch menu is not a large selection, but the food is great. Lunch prices were reasonable. Service was good. Atmosphere was nice, quiet and relaxed. I know pretty much nothing about golf, so the décor is interesting to me. Server was pleasant and kept an eye on us well. I hate going to places where the servers over do the attention. We had a wonderful first time visit. We look forward to going again.

Nice place for lunch. Warm lump crab dip was a generous portion served with toasted baguette. Loved it. $11.95 Special was fish taco with cilantro, red slaw and fresh jalapena. Two were served with saffron rice. Tacos were great. Rice was on bland side and seemed like it was from a box. $12.00 Draft beers $5 each. Our server was a little bit snootily. He was a little better as he went along, but he should remember he is the server not me. And do better by his customers or his tip will surely show and what brings in the business. All in all the food was good and would go here again.

Had a very nice lunch here on the way to the Tangers Outlet Mall on Hwy 501. Cool interior- all sorts of golf memoriabilia and Sam Snead photos. Who was Sam Snead? He was a big-time pro golfer. "Slammin' Sammy" won 82 golf tournaments in the 30's through the 60's. I heard a lot of 1940's music playing in the Tavern - lots of cool Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong tunes. We had a Country Club Sandwich ($11) - a nice portion of turkey, ham, bacon, cheese, lettuce, and tomato on multi-grain toast with a mound of fries. I ordered the Grilled Salmon Salad ($13) - a nice salmon fillet over mixed greens, goat cheese, tomatoes, and candied pecans over a balsamic reduction. The portion was very satisfying. I thought the fish was a tad overcooked and dry, it definitely wasn't the moisi fillet that moves good into the realm of very good. Our server was polite and checked on us a few times. Overall it was a very enjoyable meal with good value in a nice place.

As others have stated, the decor is fantastic. The food is even better. I had clam chowder and a crab cake. I've had some pretty crappy crab cakes that I would equate to "microwaved from your nearest grocery store's freezer section." This was not that! Small, but oh so authentic. That would explain the price tag of $12.

Nice place to eat. Get there for happy hour, half price apps. I had a rib eye, it was excellent. The rest of our party was very satisfied with our dinning experience. I would definitely go back.

What a surprise. After driving for many hours to Myrtle Beach from Indianapolis with a short stop in Columbia, SC, we were ready for a nice lunch and did we find it! The service was excellent, the server even reviewed the plate to assure presentation was perfect. Crab Cake Sandwich was all Crab and perfectly prepared. My wife's Baby Spinach Salad with Grilled Chicken, Green Apples, Pecans, Feta Cheese,Strawberries and Balsamic Vinegar Dressing was also excellent. The atmosphere is definitely conducive to relaxation and conversation. Music is not over whelming. If your looking for a more refined after golf or a place to take someone without breaking the bank, this is a place for you.

Ceaser salads was cold and fresh but didn't taste any anchovies dressing. The lemon drop martini was aweful. The martinis are measured poured. The steaks are out of this world and cooked perfectly. Alex was a very good server and a perfect gentleman

Stopped in for lunch. Wonderful memorabilia of famous golfer, Sam Snead. Lovely wood interior... Great atmosphere. We dined on French onion soup, French dip and Ruben sandwiches... very delicious. But the best part of our dining experience was our server Sean...he was absolutely fantastic! A genuinely nice guy who was so attentive, but not obnoxious about it. To the contrary and without a doubt, the best server I have ever encountered!! give that man an award!! So impressed with him as was our whole table. We used a Restaurant. Com certificate and so we received $25 off of our bill which made it all the more sweeter! Will return on our next vacation to Myrtle Beach!

Enjoyed a very nice date-night dinner here. The lump crab cakes were excellent, and the steaks were cooked to perfection. Staff is friendly, and courteous. They know when to ask how things are going, and when to walk by and eyeball drinks without interfering. About the same spent on dinner and drinks at a comparable, upscale steak joint - - but better food and service. The atmosphere is reminiscent of being at a fancy country club restaurant, with Sam Snead memorabilia in every corner.

This had to have been by far the best meal I have ever had. The food was out of the world, the atmosphere and the decor was phenomenal, and out server Jeff was a blast to have as our waiter. I'm here in Myrtle Beach for a week and this made my trip that much better. Will definitely come back the next time I'm down here.

DELICIOUS! We're not golfers, but my brother and I sure like to eat like them. We're visiting Myrtle Beach and decided to pop in here twice. Our server, Wes, served us both times and remembered us! Very friendly and quick to serve. And the part that really matters... The FOOD! Their chef cooked our food to perfection. First we tried everything on the happy hour menu. I loved the shrimp! My brother was obsessed with the Oyster Rockefeller and Bruschetta. A must try! The second time we came in my brother tried their Steak Fajita Special with Drunken Veggies and Brandy Alexandra Cocktail-- Loved it. I had the Baby Spinach Salad with a Shrimp and balsamic glaze. Delicious and filling. My brother somehow saved room for dessert just to try their in-house pastry chef. And he says it was WORTH IT! MUST TRY! You might want to come in twice too.

This place was excellent. Great atmosphere, food wnd service. Probably one of the best roast beef sandwiches i ever had and the French onion soup was excellent as well. Couldn't of ask for better waiter. Very tentative, informative and great sense of humor. Each place I was told is very unique across the country. I was told the grandkids come in and decorate each and everyone so there's no duplication. This is a must to go to

Sam Sneads seems well run. A pleasant dining experience. We have visited twice and both times were fine. The food is good, the wait staff is pleasant and efficient. One visit was myself and my wife, the second visit there were six of us. The prices were a little on the high side but there is a happy hour and daily specials. We would recommend Sam Sneads and will return.

So I was pleasantly surprised by my meal altogether. From the heathy salads to the house bread chicken tenders and addictive crab cakes, I at here 3 times over the course of one weekend. The device was impeccable. I can't believe I debt discover this sooner. Never know what hidden gems one may stumble upon. Sam Snead's Oak Grill and Tavern is definitely one for sure. This establishment, to me, is marketed as an eatery for golfers. The golf scene isn't usually my scene but I've become a major fan of their cuisine. I am now setting up a dinner for friends there for Father's Day as we speak. My mouth will have to water from afar, as I am stuck in NYC with no Sam Snead's restaurant in site:(. In any event, definitely try it for yourself and possible bring your family and friends. You'll be glad you did:-).

Ok stopped here tonight after shopping. What a pleasant surprise. Happy hour specials started us off with peel and eat shrimp for $5. Nice. I had stuffed shrimp with stuffing that had more crab than breading...yay! Grilled asparagus and bella mushrooms were perfect company. Pork tenderloin was delicious and potatoes au gratin was best we've had. Carrot cake was really like homemade. Wine special of $3 off a glass just topped it off! We'll be back for sure! Thanks again to Todd our server..great job!

Stopped in for a business lunch---little weary because many places in Myrtle Beach are overrated. This one happens to carry a golfer's name (I don't know who he is really but apparently famous, don't hold that against me or my review). The food and the service was great! All 3 of us were pleased with our selections. The server, who was the bartender, did a great job offering suggestions and being attentive to our outdoor table. I had the crab cake sandwich along with a small salad. Sandwich was great!! mostly crab meat with little filler.

Went for lunch today after reading ALL the great reviews on Yelp. My wife had the "special"...fish tacos. She raved about the combination of all the ingredients. I had the clubhouse sandwich..it was OK. The only thing about the restaurant I didn't like was the woman who greeted us at the front door. She seemed to judge everyone who walked in. If a person was wearing jeans they were seatd in the bar. If you dressed business casual you were seated in the dining room. It became obvious as the place filled up. This might make me hesitate to return.

I had a lunch get together with 7 other friends & wives for the first time, and the sandwich, once it came, was too small to be worth $11. They ran out of Bud Light, and the server took a long time to tell me and get a substitute beer. In fact my friend had a Stella like I was supposed to have, too, and we did not know whose beer the one beer was. We could not find our server. The place was literally empty around 1:45 PM, too! There should have been other servers helping out the one we had. I blame mgt. Since their were 8 people, there was an automatic 20% tip added automatically to my bill for two (of the 8 total guests). So two draft beers at $5.00 ea., my wife's salmon salad, and and a small french dip sandwich came to $45. As far as I'm concerned, this restaurant "over charges, and under delivers on the service. Maybe, it is better for dinner?

come to Myrtle often and wanted to explore quality options down 501. Sam Snead's was found on Yelp and now I come full circle to review it. While from the outside it looks like a trendy beach place near the outlets and buffalo wild wings. You see that it is not the same when you walk in. Super service from start to finish plus the ability to make a reservation was nice. With 8 people we sampled a lot of the menu. Flatbreads are bigger than expected and salads too. Both great., plus the entrees were super too. Chicken Madera was ordered by two...flavor and tenderness was perfect. Kids got fish and chips..they loved it. It is a quieter place and our kids are 10 or older, but certainly worth going to. Family of 5 with a glass of wine was $85. For a higher quality casual dinner that seemed good.

Overpriced for the type of meat you get. My steak was simply dry and plain - no taste to it at all. Even for a dip we were charged extra. The waiter recommended not to order the cream of spinach but instead another side order which was simply horrible. He had a sales tactic which was beyond our belief - We've never experienced this in any other restaurant. Probably everyone is talked into the "King Crab appetizer " for like $15 a small piece. To keep it short, we do not recommend this place.

The best restaurant I've seen in myrtle beach. Great She Crab soup and great burgers. They should work on the service though because some of the waiters are extremely slow and not attentive at all.

Nice, cozy atmosphere. Food was really good but the bread pudding was to die for! If you are a fan of bread pudding, you've got to try it! Yummy!

I brought my small staff of 10 there for our Christmas party this year and they had a blast! Great atmosphere and professional staff. And the best part was the food! The steaks were cooked perfectly and my Chicken Piccata was excellent. Great place for a Christmas staff party!

Good food. But the service seemed mismanaged. We had trouble ordering drinks and one of our meals was brought out 10 minutes late. The manager tried to help out the overwhelmed server but it was too little too late. We will try this place again.
